My guest today is Screamin’ Rachael Cain, named the “Queen of House Music” by Billboard Magazine. Rachel is a blonde rocker chick who in the 1980s, was singing in punk bands and throwing shows at a Chicago warehouse known as the Space Place. From living the underground scene in Chicago and New York Rachael is now the highly successful CEO of Trax, a major record label. Rachael’s collaborations have resulted in a string of hits which have made her club royalty. She is the subject in a number of books, documentaries, and films including The History of House Music, Nightclubbing, The Last Party, Techno Style and the recent Hollywood release Party Monster. Rachael has studied voice (from opera to blues), dance (from ballet to jacking!)), and acting (at the prestigious Lee Strasburg Institute), appearing in films including Night Owl , Too Pure , and the De-Flowering. She hosted several shows, including, the award winning cable series Manhattan Lifestyles.
